Art & Science is a book publication design and creative direction. I worked as a creative consultant and editorial designer with a small team of colleagues. The book content was written by Rhys Himsworth, Chair of the Painting and Printmaking Department at VCUQatar, Amy Andres, Director of the Libraries at VCUQatar, Dr. Alan Weber, Associate Professor of English at Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar, and Dr. Stephen Scott, Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar.
The project originated as a hybrid course between VCUQatar and Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar, and continued as a grant project between Rhys, Alan, Amy and Stephen. As part of the grant, data ws collected data (written & visual content, experiments, workshops, exhibition) from the semester long course, that also continued into the following semester to produce a small exhibition. I worked with Rhys, Amy and Alan to audit and edit the content and develop a plan for a consolidated publication.
Rhys, Amy, Alan, and Leila Natsheh are credited as photographers. Abdul Rahman provided laser cut illustration as artwork for the cover. I was responsible for consolidating all the materials, designing the typographic systems and styles, the layout and grid system, the cover & back cover, and color correcting the images for uniformity.
